Hello!
My name is Caitlin Ramirez and I am a 3rd grade teacher in the Cheltenham School District. I have had the pleasure of being a 3rd grade teacher going on six years now! This school year will mark my eighth year as a teacher. I previously taught in Harford County Public Schools in Joppa, Maryland as a Special Education teacher for two years. I have experience working with grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 in addition to student teaching in Philadelphia and abroad in Brazil. I have also had the opportunity to be trained in several research based reading interventions, and have a strong understanding of how to teach to developing readers in regards to both phonics and content. My qualifications include holding an elementary and special education degree in addition to an American Studies degree, from La Salle University. I completed a Masters of Education from Michigan State University with a concentration in Literacy Instruction in December 2021.
Some things you should know about me include: I love to travel, I love the colors blue and green (which will be reflected when you see my classroom), I run on caffeine and humor, and I come from a mixed background. I have Spanish, German, and Irish roots and even though my last name is Ramirez, you will see that I reflect more of my Irish roots in my appearance and cultural pride as a result of growing up 5 minutes away from my (proudly Irish) grandparents.
My goal as a teacher is to build a collaborative, safe learning environment for your child to be engaged and participate in each and every day. I strive to make learning interactive and fun with my use of Whole Brain Teaching strategies and use of flexible seating and movement opportunities for your child throughout the day. In addition to my environment, I would like to foster a love of reading and independence with your child as they learn to make decisions for themselves, learn its ok to struggle when learning something new, and help them use resources or learn how to ask for help/ think through a problem by using thinking stems.
